Volcano 6425 meters. Arequipa (3 days).

The name of the Coropuna volcano comes from the Quechua word Coropuna, which means golden mountain. This snow-capped volcano is located at an altitude of 6,425 meters above sea level. It is the third highest mountain in the Andes of Peru. Its cone shape goes aligned from north to south, with more than 3 summits of 6000 meters.

It is known that the first recorded climb of the COROPUNA took place in 1910 by Anne Smith Peek and the second ascent by the archaeologist Hiram Bingham.

The climb to this volcano is within the “moderate” difficulty, so in order to make the ascent it is recommended to go in the company of specialized COLCA TREK guides, prior acclimatization is recommended for those interested in the ascent; It is also recommended that the route be carried out between the months of April to November, when the weather is at its most benign, and that the route begins early in the morning to gain more distance traveled and a better area to set up camps.

1st day

Pick up the passengers from the hotel at 10:00 am, we head through the Majes Valley.

Continuous until we reach the town of Chuquibamba 2:30 pm. where you can take a snack and then continue until 5200 meters 4:30 pm where we set up our camp, they will have dinner and we will sleep the 1st night in tents.

2nd day

Breakfast 1:00 am then they will start walking with a small backpack attack where they will take a box lunch, to the summit from 8 to 10 hrs. (6425 meters) where we will stay for about 15 minutes and then return to the camp in 4 hours where we will have dinner and then sleep the second night. night in their tents.

3rd day

Breakfast 7:00 am then mobility will take you to Corire for lunch and then continue until arriving in Arequipa approximately 4:00 pm. to your Hotel.
